Cut pay and perks to balance budget

If the DuPage County board members would cut their numbers on the board, and cut their salaries and the perks they receive, I would think the county budget could be met without any problem.

These members are drawing hefty salaries for a second income and they also get very good pension benefits.

Whatever happened to serving for the sake of serving? Most of these people get on the board and stay there as long as possible. Must be something in it for them. Meanwhile the county services suffer.

Just something to think about.
