Elgin man snared in drug bust
The Elgin police gang and drug units recovered 36 grams of cocaine, 217 grams of marijuana and more than $3,000 in cash during a drug bust Monday evening, officials said.
Ricardo A. Marrufo, 36, of 709 Illinois Ave., Elgin, was charged with possession and delivery of a controlled substance and possession and delivery of marijuana, police said.
Marrufo has been arrested multiple times under multiple aliases and was wanted on outstanding Streamwood, Elgin and Kane County warrants, police said.
In addition to the drugs and money, police said they found several boxes of small plastic bag and a digital scale in the rear bedroom.
After hearing a lengthy list of arrests in court presented by the Kane County state's attorney's office, Judge Allen Anderson set Maruffo's bond at $100,000.
Unable to post bond, he was taken to the Kane County jail to await his next court date on Dec. 19 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
