Gift of Reading Program: Give the Gift of Reading this holiday season by donating new or like-new unwrapped books for local children in need, ages 6 and under. Donations of books in English and Spanish are greatly appreciated. This year's program runs through Dec. 16. Call (847) 253-5675.

Open Storytimes: The library invites children ages 6 and under and their families to attend these 30-minute sessions that feature stories and songs held at 9:30 a.m. today; and 10:30 a.m. Friday. Create-a-Craft: Children of all ages can celebrate the season by participating in the library's winter-themed arts and crafts program, held from 11:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., Friday. Polish Holiday Storytime: The library celebrates the season with a special Polish storytime, held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Monday. The program will feature stories, songs, and rhymes presented in Polish, followed by refreshments and a craft. This program is reserved for Mount Prospect Library cardholders. Online shopping demonstration: eBay University Instructor and Education Specialist Jack Waddick will demonstrate how to conveniently purchase gifts for family and friends through eBay, at 7:30 p.m., Monday.

The demonstration, designed to add convenience to one's holiday shopping, will show users how to effectively search for -- and purchase -- gifts through the popular shopping and auction Web site.

"Snack & Craft" for Teens: Students and teens in grades six through 12 who are puzzled as to what to get family and friends this holiday season can drop by the library's holiday snack workshop and create a range of tasty treats, from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
