Best & Brightest
• Blair Allen, daughter of Rosemary Reed, Mount Prospect, and Bruce Allen, Arlington Heights, was awarded a bachelor's degree June 10 in studio art and psychology from Lawrence University, Appleton, Wis. Allen also was named to the 2006-07 dean's list for maintaining a minimum 3.4 grade point average. She is a 2003 graduate of Rolling Meadows High School.
• Mark Magierski, son of Allan and Martha Magierski of Mount Prospect, achieved a 3.4 grade point average for the 2007 spring semester at North Carolina State University in Raleigh. Magierski, a senior majoring in mechanical engineering, was also accepted into a summer engineering internship program at Duke Power and Energy in Rock Hill, S.C.
• Eric Anderson of Mount Prospect graduated cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in mathematics after the spring 2007 semester at Winona State University in Minnesota.
• Eric Anderson of Mount Prospect graduated cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry after the spring 2007 semester at Winona State University in Minnesota.
• Larisa Greve, daughter of Jeffrey and Susan Greve of Park Ridge was inducted into the Alpha Chi honor society at Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa. The organization promotes academic excellence and exemplary character among students in all disciplines and honors those who achieve such distinction.
• Bryan Zaremba of Elk Grove Village, a student at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville student Bryan Zaremba received the UWP Foundation Academic Scholar Award for $500. This award is given to students who are considered outstanding leaders by peers and teachers and are involved in numerous community and school activities.
Zaremba, the son of Arlene Zaremba, Elk Grove Village, and Joe Zaremba, Rolling Meadows, is a freshman majoring in engineering at UWP this fall. He is a 2007 graduate of Elk Grove High School.
• Christopher P. Zwiercan, whose parents live in the Prospect Heights area, is the recipient of a 2007 annual scholarship award from the Polish Women's Civic Club, Inc. The awards are granted to outstanding scholars of Polish descent based on merit and need. Zwiercan attends University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry and graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in biology from Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wis.
