Holiday Concert: Get into the holiday spirit with this concert by the Bel Sonore Chamber Ensemble from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Join soprano Deborah Bulgrin, flutist Madelyn Campos, oboist Crystal Hall and bassoonist Tom Bulgrin as they celebrate the holidays with favorites by Handel, Bach, Frank, Vaughan Williams and others.

Preschool Saturdays: Short and entertaining films of stories old and new from 9:30 to 10 a.m. on Jan. 5. Hear stories just right for the preschool child on from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday and Dec. 15 and 22 in the picture book area. Registration is not required.

Pack Like a Pro: Through trial and error, Al and Gail Popowits will discuss the secrets of packing for weeks of travel with minimal luggage. Learn tips on what to bring and what to leave at home from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday.

The Yoga & Tea Experience: Start with an energizing tea, then move into a mindful, slow flow yoga class from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. End the workshop with a sampling of calming teas and take a favorite tea home to savor at another time. Space is limited.

Michigan Beach Towns: From Noon to 1:30 p.m. Dec. 12, travel guide Nancy McCully will discuss the western Michigan beaches, the longest continuous stretch of freshwater beaches in the world. McCully also discusses John Jacob Astor and the fur traders, Joliet and Marquette, Indian villages, 19th century forts and lumbering camps.

Jamma Tales: Kids ages 2 to 5 and caregivers can relax and snuggle for stories and songs at 7 p.m. Dec. 13. Pajamas are welcome for this half-hour evening storytime. Registration is not required.

Toys for Tots: Help the Marines make Christmas Merry for less fortunate children. From now until Dec. 16, drop by the library to donate a new, unwrapped toy to Toys for Tots.

Healing Mind, Body & Spirit: Dr. Gregg Stern will discuss a holistic approach to increasing health, vitality and enjoyment of life from 7 to 8 p.m. Dec. 17.

Kids book discussion: Students in second and third grade can take part in a craft and discussion of "Stone Fox" by John Reynolds Gardiner from 7 to 8 p.m. Dec. 20. A complimentary book will be reserved upon registration.

Business library cards: Businesses in the Vernon Area Library District are invited to apply for a business library card. Resources include online databases (Reference USA and Business Company Resource Center), meeting room space, copiers and fax, business-related and computer instruction classes, computers with Wi-Fi Internet access and MS Office Suite and business-related books for start-up and growing businesses, management, accounting and human resources.

E-mail hold notification: The Vernon Area Public Library is now offering E-mail Hold Notification.

When items a patrons have requested become available, they can receive an e-mail to let them know that the items are at the Patron Services Desk. Patrons will have four days to pick up held items. Register for e-mail hold notification by visiting www.vapld.info or by visiting the Patron Services Desk and filling out a privacy permission form. Anyone already receiving due date e-mail reminders will automatically receive e-mail hold notification.
