Dolce Day Spa owner knew career path at a young age
When Kimberly Frits was a teenager, five or six of her girlfriends could often be found in her family's Jack-and-Jill bathroom doing their hair and makeup.
Frits usually had the innovative ideas. Now 30, Frits is again taking charge in opening her own business, Dolce Day Spa.
The salon is at 875 Feinberg Court, Suite 100, in Cary. It opened in August and Frits employs 18 people, offering hair services, facials, nail services and massage.
It's important to Frits that she offer a relaxing, inviting atmosphere at the Aveda spa. An hour massage goes for $90 while an express manicure is $35. A spa pedicure is $50.
"I'm trying to be competitive in the nail area. There's so many places out there," she said.
Dolce, means sweet in Italian. Prior to launching the shop, she worked at three other Aveda salons.
After graduating from Cary Grove High School she went on to beauty school.
"I've always liked clothes and hair. This is a fun career to have," Frits said.
Launching the business has been challenging, she said. "The hardest part in getting it started is that you have to really believe in yourself and then go for it," she said.
The shop is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. For more information, check out www.dolcedayspa.com or call (847) 517-8787.
