Gould welcomes pressure
Robbie Gould's game-winning, 39-yard field goal last week was the fifth of his three-year NFL career, and his third in overtime.
The Bears kicker welcomes the pressure.
"Sure, why not?" he said. "As a kicker, you have to. If you don't have that mentality or that fortitude to do it, then obviously you're not going to have a lot of success. It's fun. You go out there and you have fun. That's what you practice for every week is to think that it's going to come down to that situation."
Gould is 3-for-3 on field goals in each of the last two games after missing 1 attempt in each of the three previous games. He's 20-for-24 on the season (83.3 percent), and his career mark of 83.9 is fourth among active kickers and the best in franchise history by a wide margin. Jeff Jaeger is second at 75.9.
According to Gould, the pressure that everyone notices with the game on the line, is present on every kick.
"If I miss one of those field goals in the first quarter (the 24-yarder) or second quarter (from 44), we're not even going into overtime," he said after the 37-34 victory over the Broncos. "Every kick counts, and every point that we put on the board is going to matter down the road."
