Officials investigating fire at vacant building in Naperville
No injuries were reported Friday afternoon in a fire at a vacant, one-story commercial building at 420 S. Washington St., Naperville.
Firefighters said they arrived at 2:53 p.m. to find smoke coming from the rear doors of the multiunit building.
Officials said firefighters entered the structure and worked their way through the heat and smoke to find the fire in the center of the building. Heavy smoke pushed out the front of the building as firefighters broke the windows to relieve conditions for crews inside.
A total of 28 firefighters battled the blaze.
No one was inside the structure when the fire began. No damage estimates were available late Friday.
The Naperville Fire Investigation Team is working to determine the cause of the blaze.
