Shepherds points the way to home options
A new community of 222 townhouses with open floor plans, Shepherds Point offers a location in north suburban Zion with access to Lake Michigan, shopping, dining and transportation.
Wauconda-based Deer Point Homes offers four floor plans at Shepherds Point with two bedrooms, one to two baths, balconies and attached two-car garages. One floor plan can be upgraded to three bedrooms and 2½ baths.
Located on the northwest side of Zion at Kenosha Road near Route 173, Shepherds Point townhouses appeal to first-time buyers and downsizers alike who don't want to worry about lawn maintenance and snow removal.
Two decorated models are open for tours.
"The models really help buyers get a sense of the size and open space of the floor plans," said Naomi Murphy, director of sales and marketing for Deer Point Homes "They also do a great job of showing several possible options, which helps buyers envision how their home at Shepherds Point might look."
Models include the Chalet, a three-level home from $179,990 with 1,591 square feet, two bedrooms and 1½ baths.
The great room includes a black-and-white sectional with red accent pillows that provides ample seating and a stand-alone bar with stools. There also is a pass-through between the great room and kitchen.
The kitchen features black appliances and dark wood cabinets with red and white accessories. The stainless steel sink overlooks the great room, while a breakfast table with red leather chairs is situated near the balcony. A pantry and half-bath are off the kitchen.
Upstairs, the master bedroom has a black-and-white bedspread, dresser, walk-in closet and private bath with sink, upgraded cabinetry and oversized ceramic tile flooring.
Outfitted for the fitness buff, the second bedroom includes exercise equipment along with a desk and computer. The upper level includes a full hall bath and second-floor laundry.
The lower level den is a flexible space that offers many possibilities.
A three-level home, the Danberry, priced from $191,990, is the largest plan offered with 1,871 square feet, two bedrooms and 2½ baths.
In this home, the great room is separated into two areas. The seating area is furnished with a teal sofa and two geometric print chairs and the dining area has a full-size dining room table and chairs. Maple hardwood floors flow throughout the main level.
The great room is adjacent to the eat-in kitchen, which has been upgraded with stainless steel appliances, 42-inch maple cabinets and countertops. A round glass-topped table is a great spot for casual dinners. There is also a balcony off the kitchen, as well as a first-floor laundry room.
At the upstairs landing, a desk and chair offer a quiet spot to catch up on work from the office and pay bills.
The master bedroom features dark wood furnishings that contrast with a teal and tan color scheme. The room includes a walk-in closet, space for a seating area and a private bath.
Decorated in blue and white, the secondary bedroom is shown as a nursery complete with rocking chair and includes a walk-in closet and access to a full bath.
Buyers have an option to add a third bedroom to the second level.
The lower level den is a flexible space that has many uses.
Shepherds Point also offers two raised-ranch floor plans. The Edgebrook, from $176,990, has 1,290 square feet, two bedrooms and one bath, while the Arbor, from $189,990, has 1,615 square feet, two bedrooms, two baths and an oversized two-car garage.
Buyers who are downsizing and prefer most of their living space on one level will be interested in these plans.
The homes feature a kitchen and great room. Both bedrooms are on the main level.
A utility room and family room are located on the lower level, which provides direct access to the attached two-car garage.
The Arbor also can be upgraded to include a third bedroom on the lower level.
