Two proposals heard for Bartlett/Lake intersection
Discussions are under way regarding the development of the South Bartlett Road and Lake Street intersection.
Two developers have come forward with proposals. One is a 9,900-square-foot retail center at the northwest corner called GoCook Plaza. It would hold up to nine tenant spaces. Though no specific businesses were disclosed, there's talk of a 7-Eleven store.
The other has proposed a Citgo gas station south of the retail center. Original plans called for a Subway restaurant on the Citgo site, but those have since been revised. There will at least be a convenience store.
The designs must leave space for a road improvement project Cook County is supposed to eventually undertake that will accommodate new turn lanes and realign Oak Avenue.
A few Bartlett trustees also said they're concerned about the added traffic and disputed an engineer's study that showed minimal impact.
All agreed the brick selected for the buildings was lovely and not at all too pink.
New pub in town: There's a new place to eat, drink and be merry in Bartlett.
Ovi's Pub will open its doors Monday, and there's more than chicken wings and mozzarella sticks on the menu.
Owners Ovi and Maria Ovanesco say there will be healthier choices such as wraps and salads in addition to the full bar and typical pub fare. Entrees range in price from $8.99 to $16.99.
Located at 1075 Stearns Road, Ovi's Pub will offer a unique, warm and friendly environment, according to the Ovanescos.
Village President Catherine Melchert and members of the Bartlett Chamber of Commerce planned to attend a ribbon cutting Thursday afternoon.
