Thanks to those who serve country
As part of the new opening of the Veterans' tollway, I rode my bike down the new 355 tollway extension. There were several festivals honoring the service of those who served my country. They participated in ceremonies along the tollway and stood guard at points throughout my ride.
Their presence was a reminder that freedom is not free. As I road by, I yelled thanks to those in the service of my country. Yet, I felt my vocal support of those that provide for the protection of my rights, liberty and pursuit of happiness was a feeble attempt at portraying my true gratitude. I thought hard since the ride on how I can express my true gratitude that I and a nation must feel. It is simple yet powerful.
To those that protect my freedom: Thank you.
