Let's meet duty to ourselves

I'm lucky. On Thanksgiving, I was surrounded by family and friends in the warmth of my home. Our brave young men and women in Iraq were not as fortunate. They were doing their jobs valiantly, and we should admire their courage and sacrifice in the name of freedom.

The shame, however, is that our fighting forces in Iraq should have been home, enjoying the opportunity to give thanks surrounded by their loved ones. That they were not able to do so is the fault of this administration and its supporters, including Rep. Mark Kirk, who stubbornly insist that the war continue into an uncertain future.

The mission in Iraq, such as it was, has been over for a long time. Today, a state of uncertainty continues to exist there. But when does our "obligation" to Iraq end and the fulfillment of our "obligation" to our citizens begin?
