Cops raid Sugar Grove party

Thanks to a tip from concerned parents, Sugar Grove police broke up an underage drinking party late Saturday night.

Police, with help from the Kane County sheriff's office, arrested and charged 13 minors and two juveniles late Saturday night.

One adult who was hosting the party, Jesus Saucedo, 22, of 911 Merill New Road, was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, police said.

On April 15, 14 minors were cited for underage consumption of alcohol, and 15 were charged with the same offense July 7.

Four minors were arrested following a party Aug. 4, Sugar Grove Investigator John Sizer said, and dozens fled from that house.

"This is really becoming a serious issue," he said. "If we hadn't broken this up and gotten the kids home, this could have very easily turned into the kind of catastrophe that happened in August."

Following the August party, two 2004 Batavia High School graduates died a car crash. A 23-year-old Aurora man is accused of reckless homicide in their deaths.

Sizer said the parents of one teen, who had just been released from rehab, called police Saturday to say he was attending a party where they believed alcohol and drugs were being used.

Charged under a local ordinance for unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor were:

Brynn Cullerton, 17, of the 1000 block of Millview Drive, Batavia; Coleton Starr, 18, of the 1100 block of Lewis Road, Geneva; Bryn Martin, 18, of the 2S200 block of Dartridge Road, Batavia; Nicholas DiBenedetto, 18, of the 2200 block of Vanderbilt Drive, Geneva; Benjamin Johnson, 18, of the 800 block of Independence Drive, Elburn; Meredith Albrecht, 18, of the 35W300 block of Olinger Lane, Geneva; Athanasios Stratikis, 18, of the 800 block of Harden Avenue, Aurora; Donald Jones, 18, of the 1200 block of Iroquois Drive, Batavia; Mathew Benner, 18, of the 1100 block of Hanover Drive, Batavia; Justin Richard, 19, of the 300 block of Basswood Drive, North Aurora; Louis Girard, 18, of the 400 block of South Prairie Street, Batavia; and David Saucedo, 19, of the 900 block of Merrill New Road, Sugar Grove. Saucedo also arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Benjamin Kesler, 17, of the 400 block of Mabes Drive, Batavia, was cited for underage drinking and obstruction of justice, police said.

Two 16-year-old juveniles from Batavia and Geneva were also charged.

Officers were on the scene for nearly four hours making arrangements to get all subjects involved home safely.
