Wolves top Stars for sixth road win in seven games

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Solves scored 5 unanswered goals after falling behind 2-0 and eventually earned a 7-5 win over the Iowa Stars at the Wells Fargo Arena Friday night.

Chicago (12-0-1-0), which is off to its best start in franchise history, has earned 25 out of 26 possible points this season and join the Toronto Marlies as the only two teams in the American Hockey League without a regulation loss thus far. The Wolves¹ .962 winning percentage is the best in the league.

The Wolves posted a 6-0-1-0 mark on their season-high, seven-game road trip, and improved to 8-0-1-0 away from the Allstate Arena with the win.

Center Jason Krog potted 2 goals and forwards Jesse Schultz, Steve Martins and defensemen Brian Fahey and Joel Kwiatkowski also registered multiple point games for the Wolves.

Goaltender Fred Brathwaite (9-1-0) stopped 30 of 35 shots in route to picking up his league-leading ninth victory.

Martins scored the game-winning goal on a five-on-three advantage at the 3:01 mark of the third period when he tapped in a Schultz pass past Stars goaltender Tobias Stephan to make the score 6-3.

Iowa (8-7-1-0) opened the scoring while on the power play at the 12:10 mark of the first period. Right wing Marius Holtet fired a slap shot from the far circle past Brathwaite. Center Toby Petersen made the score 2-0 in favor of the Stars when he potted his league-leading 10th goal at 16:23 of the first period.

The Wolves went on to score five straight markers, starting with Krog¹s first of the night, a power play goal at 19:12 of the initial frame. Krog batted the puck from mid-air through Stephan¹s legs to cut the Stars' lead to 2-1.

Schultz scored his team-leading eighth goal of the year when he fired a wrister top-shelf past Stephan at the 2:59 mark of the middle frame. Right Wing Joey Crabb netted his first goal of the season just 1:30 later when his shot from the near slot found the back of the net to make the score 4-2.

Fahey registered his third goal of the year when he ripped a slap shot passed a screened Stephan at 6:41 of the second period. Krog netted his second tally of the night when he took a Brett Sterling pass, skated in alone on Stephan and fired the puck through the goaltender¹s five hole at 13:10.

The Wolves return home after a three-week absence tomorrow night to host the Houston Aeros at the Allstate Arena at 7 p.m.
