Streamwood time capsule to be opened in 2057

The average price of a gallon of milk was $1 in 1957. Today it's about $3.30. What will it be 50 years from now?

That's just one the tidbits addressed in the time capsule put together by the Streamwood Historical Society in honor of the village's 50th anniversary of incorporation.

Items to be buried will include ads from 1957 and today; a photo of the Streamwood High School Class of 2007; a police badge; letters describing family life in 1957 and today; a memory book of messages from residents; and a U.S. Post Office stamp from June 1 commemorating the village's 60107 ZIP code.

"People will open this up in 2057 and get a sense of how Streamwood has grown and changed and prospered," said Jill Ingram, president of the historical society.
