Tony's Subs back in expansion mode with new Lakemoor shop

A well known sandwich shop in Deerfield recently expanded into Lakemoor.

The newest Tony's Subs opened at 209 W. Rand Road at Route 120.

Tony Viti opened the original sandwich shop more than 43 years ago in Deerfield, where he was raising his five children. His daughter, Amy Campbell, convinced her father to let her expand the business.

Campbell and her husband, Sean, run the day-to-day operations at the new shop on Lilly Lake.

"We have the best fresh, hot and cold subs," Campbell said.

The Launcher is a favorite, featuring salami, bologna, mortadella, ham and provolone cheese. "It's 19 pieces of meat," she said of the sub, which sells for $6.29.

"We have awesome subs. They're fresh and big. We also have soup and chili," Campbell said.

The business also offers party trays and catering services.

"It's a fun environment here," Campbell said.

She has early memories of walking in the back door of her father's Deerfield shop and making an ice cream cone and a sandwich.

She hopes to soon add a slush machine and ice cream to her new shop.

At one time her father operated six of the sub stores, including ones in Libertyville, North Chicago, Waukegan, Highwood and two in Deerfield.

Prior to launching the Lakemoor business, Campbell was the shop manager at Beverly E. Viti's Total Salon, a hair salon her mom owned in Deerfield for 25 years. When her mother recently sold the salon, she came up with the idea for the sandwich shop.

Campbell and her husband reside in Round Lake Beach where they're raising two children, Payton and Fiona.

Campbell's sister, Karen Corsini of Gages Lake, helps operate the new business. Their parents reside in Johnsburg.
