McHenry Co. prosecutor honored

Louis A. Bianchi, the state's attorney of McHenry County, has announced that Assistant State's Attorney Donna Kelly recently earned the Outstanding State's Attorney Award.

The award was presented to her by the Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists, in recognition for her outstanding dedication to championing the cause of justice for impaired driving crash victims and their families.

AAIM's goal is to increase public awareness of the senseless deaths that occur each year at the hands of drivers who are under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.

AAIM chose to recognize Kelly as a result of her efforts on behalf of the people of the State of Illinois and the citizens of McHenry County in bringing justice to those who choose to drive while intoxicated.

The award was presented to Kelly at an Oct. 28 banquet in Itasca. She was one of five prosecutors from across the state who were recognized at the banquet.

Kelly is a 1986 graduate of Marian Central Catholic High School, a 1990 graduate of Florida State University and a 1994 graduate of the Northern Illinois University College of Law.

She is assigned to the special prosecutions unit of the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office. She has practiced criminal law for 13 years, and was hired by Bianchi in 2005.
