Screenwriters could use a reality check
It seems the recent Hollywood Writers Guild strike has taken center stage in the media. The writers, most of whom pull down six-figure incomes, could use a reality check.
Our troops continue to pay the ultimate sacrifice and do so at a fraction of the pay that writers make. Yet these same writers love to pump out filth and anti-American rhetoric for consumption by the masses who are too lazy to get off the couch.
In Illinois, local governments are struggling to provide basic services with declining revenues. Everything, it seems, is on the chopping block from mass transit to basic law enforcement services.
So I offer this suggestion to the writers -- please stay on strike. I intend to read more books. That is, more books written by real writers.
