Grayslake Central in music festival

Three Grayslake Central High School students recently were tapped to be part of a music festival.

Junior Sarah Audette, sophomore Caitlyn Horine and senior Kathy Einhorn will represent the school at the Illinois Music Educators Association District 7 festival. The music festival will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Crystal Lake Central High School's fieldhouse, with tickets selling for $3.

Audette is a soprano I and Horine an alto I. They'll be in the senior honors chorus.

Einhorn was selected for her euphonium prowess. She'll be in the senior honors concert band.

"We are incredibly proud to have these young women representing our school in the festival," Grayslake Central chorus instructor Jennifer White said.

Rigorous auditions for the festival were held this month. The participants had to demonstrate tonal skills, sight reading and knowledge of prepared music.
