Alfredsson, Neil lead comeback

Daniel Alfredsson and Chris Neil scored 1:40 apart in the third period to rally the host Ottawa Senators to a 3-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday.

Cristobal Huet, who stopped Alfredsson on a penalty shot in the second, was within 5:10 of his second shutout in two starts, but the Senators' captain tied it at 1-1.

Neil gave Ottawa the lead when he beat Huet with a shot from the right circle with 3:30 left.

Alfredsson added an empty-net goal for his 13th of the season -- his fourth in three games -- and the Senators improved to 14-2-0. Ottawa lost 4-1 to Washington on Thursday to end its team-record, eight-game winning streak.

Martin Gerber stopped 28 shots for his NHL-leading 11th win. Huet made 34 saves.

Andrei Markov scored his fifth goal of the season on a power play 11:11 in for the Canadiens.

Rangers 3, Leafs 2 (SO): Marcel Hossa scored the decisive goal in the shootout, and Steve Valiquette made 32 saves as New York beat host Toronto in the annual Hall of Fame game.

Islanders 2, Devils 1: Miroslav Satan scored his third straight winning goal, and host New York denied New Jersey goalie Martin Brodeur his 500th NHL victory.

Hurricanes 5, Thrashers 3: Rod Brind'Amour scored 2 goals, and Southeast Division-leading Carolina beat defending champion Atlanta on its home ice, giving Thrashers rookie goalie Ondrej Pavelec his first loss.

Bruins 2, Sabres 1: Tim Thomas made 45 saves, and Chuck Kobasew scored the tiebreaker in the third period to help host Boston snap a four-game losing streak by beating Buffalo.

Flyers 5, Penguins 2: Kimmo Timonen had a goal and 3 assists, and host Philadelphia took advantage on 4 power plays in beating Pittsburgh.

Lightning 5, Capitals 2: Vaclav Prospal had a goal and 2 assists, and Tampa Bay won its third straight, beating host Washington. Martin St. Louis had a goal and an assist, and Vincent Lecavailier added 2 assists for the Lightning.

Predators 4, Blue Jackets 3 (SO): Chris Mason stopped all 3 shootout attempts, and Martin Erat scored the only goal in the tiebreaker to lift host Nashville over Columbus.
