Flexibility, luxury offered in new condos

New condominums offering customized features are being built in Vernon Hills and Lincolnshire.

River's Edge offers a luxury condominium complex of 80 residences in two five-story buildings in Vernon Hills, in Stevenson High School District 125.

Lincolnshire Place Condominiums on the Village Green provides 62 residences in a four-story building in downtown Lincolnshire.

At River's Edge, six two-bedroom, two-bath designs (some with additional dens or dining rooms) and one three-bedroom, 2¼-bath plan remain available, ranging in size from 1,745 to 2,325 square feet with large, private balconies and up to two parking garage spaces.

Prices range from $349,900 to $538,000. Owners began taking occupancy earlier this year.

At Lincolnshire Place on the Village Green, seven floor plans range from 1,784 to 2,810 square feet, with pre-construction prices ranging from $438,900 to $829,500. Construction began last spring with first residents expected to take occupancy in summer and fall of next year.

Every home at River's Edge and Lincolnshire Place features one or two balconies.

Buyers' choices go beyond the selection of kitchen cabinets, to involve almost every visible surface, from flooring and counter surfaces to plumbing fixtures.

Kitchen features at both communities include granite counter tops, maple wall cabinets, JennAir brand gas ranges, dishwashers, built-in microwave ovens and side-by-side refrigerators with ice and water dispensers, Kitchenaid disposals and Kohler double-bowl stainless steel sinks.

Master bedroom suites will feature two walk-in closets and a luxury bath, 12-inch ceramic tile flooring and separate Kohler soaking tubs and separate showers, as well as Corian® or marble vanity tops; mirrored medicine cabinets and full-length vanity mirrors.

Many of the floor plans have large laundry/utility rooms with laundry tubs and additional storage space.

Several of the Lincolnshire residences feature front porches with private entry. Others will have private rooftop decks, and penthouse units will have volume ceilings and wraparound balconies.

River's Edge, with its Arts & Crafts architecture blending easily into the north end of the Half Day Forest Preserve, boasts a private one-acre nature park with the Des Plaines River to its east.

The grounds will also feature a waterfall and a gazebo, and a club room with a terrace and fitness facility.

The Infinity Terrace, a new feature at Lincolnshire Place, offers an outdoor fireplace and grill with a view of ponds, wetlands, woods, and reflecting pool.

Two rail stations for the Metra North Central Service line -- Vernon Hills and Prairie View -- are within minutes of the communities, with an hour's commute to the Loop. Travelers may also choose the Lake Forest Metra station, east of the community, on the Milwaukee District North line.

The information center for both communities is at River's Edge, on the east side of Milwaukee Avenue, 1.5 blocks north of Route 22; enter on Benjamin Drive. Office hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
