Last-place Caps top Ottawa
OTTAWA -- Viktor Kozlov had a goal and 2 assists in the second period and the Washington Capitals ended Ottawa's team record 8-game winning streak with a 4-1 victory over the Senators on Thursday night.
Olaf Kolzig made 27 saves for Washington, which had lost 4 in a row and 10 of its last 12 (1-11-1), including a 2-1 overtime loss Tuesday in Atlanta.
Alexander Ovechkin scored his 10th goal with 3:45 left in the third to restore Washington's 3-goal lead after Kozlov, Nicklas Backstrom and Tomas Fleischman each scored in the second to put the Capitals up 3-0.
Daniel Alfredsson scored his 11th goal late in the second for Ottawa, which lost for just the second time in 14 games (12-2-0).
