The Christmas Tree Ship: Captain Herman Schuenemann became affectionately known as "Captain Santa" for his yearly voyage from Michigan's Upper Peninsula to Chicago with a load of freshly cut Christmas trees. Rochelle Pennington tells the tale of this festive maritime history in her book "The Christmas Tree Ship: a True Story of Faith, Hope and Love" and will share excerpts in a discussion at 2 p.m. Saturday. This program is free of charge and open to the public.
Cooking for one or two: In "Fun, Fast and Tasty Cooking Options for One or Two," Lynette Mensah, a nutrition and wellness educator, will share ideas, recipes and suggestions on how to make healthy, time saving and delicious meals for one or two people at 10 a.m. Nov. 16. Coffee, tea and refreshments will be served. This program is free and open to the public.
Family Movies in Spanish: Enjoy popcorn and drinks while watching a newly released film in Spanish in the Lincoln Room at the Wauconda Area Library.
• "Spider-Man 3," rated PG-13, will be shown at 2 p.m. Nov. 17. The movie is two hours and 20 minutes long.
• "Shrek Tercero," ("Shrek the Third") rated PG, will be shown at p.m. Dec. 15. The movie is 1 hour 30 minutes long.
Legends of Broadway: In "Female Legends of Broadway Remembered," recording artist Maureen Christine will perform legendary hits of Broadway stars like Barbara Streisand, July Garland, Julie Andrews, Sara Brightman and Bernadette Peters at 2 p.m. Nov. 18. This program is free and open to the public.
