Cops: Schaumburg woman raped by man who answered roommate ad
A Schaumburg woman was beaten, robbed and raped in her own apartment after meeting a man who'd answered her advertisement for a roommate, police said Thursday.
The attack occurred about 10 p.m. Wednesday on the 200 block of Routh Court.
The woman, who is about 40 years old, had placed an ad in a newspaper, police Sgt. John Nebl said. The attacker answered the ad and scheduled a meeting with the victim in her home, police said.
After the woman let him into the home, the attacker hit her in the face with a handgun and demanded money, police said. He then restrained and sexually assaulted her, police said.
The attacker, who was wearing black clothes, left with an undisclosed amount of money, police said.
The victim was treated at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates and released, police said.
