McDonald's same-store sales cooking

OAK BROOK -- McDonald's Corp Thursday posted a 6.9 percent increase in sales at restaurants open at least a year, helped by its Monopoly promotion in the United States and strength in Asia. The Oak Brook-based company said U.S. same-store sales rose 5.4 percent.

Convention bureau wins accreditation

SCHAUMBURG -- The Woodfield Chicago Northwest Convention Bureau said Thursday it is the first Illinois convention bureau to earn the Destination Marketing Accreditation Program designation, an accreditation awarded by Washington D.C.-based Destination Marketing Association International. The award puts the destination marketing organization for the northwest metropolitan area of Chicago in an "elite group of convention bureaus worldwide," the Woodfield Chicago Northwest Convention Bureau said in a statement.
