Basketball
Corsairs tryouts: The Junior Corsairs Basketball Program offers an opportunity for sixth to eighth grade boys to compete against various teams from Lake and Cook counties. Tryout dates and times for all levels are 7:15 to 9:15 p.m. Thursday, noon to 3 p.m. Sunday and 7:15 to 9:15 p.m. Nov. 15. Practices and home games will be held at Carmel High School.

Football
Flames vs. Tri-Cities: In The Chicagoland Youth Football League BIG 10-Middleweight Division, the Lake Zurich Flames defeated the Tri-Cities Chargers by a 22-16 score Oct. 21.
This game was crucial to clinch a berth in the playoffs. The Chargers scored in their first drive. With 5:17 left in the second quarter, Lake Zurich moved up the field to the 8-yard line, and Camden Kuksa ran outside to tie the game going into the half.
In the opening drive of the third quarter, quarterback Charlie Spatoulas threw a 20-yard pass to Michael Hagan who wrestled the ball out of the hands of a defender to score another touchdown. With the wind at his back, A.J. Trittschuh made both extra points. The Chargers came back and to tie the game at 16-16.
With a change of direction, Lake Zurich was heading into the wind. A key play was a 4th down with 7 yards to go when Kuksa threw a 10-yard pass to Jack Boliaux to set up the Flames for their final score. Kuksa, off the 10-yard line, darted around the Tri-Cities defense and dove into the end zone for the winning score. Colton Wagner recovered the onside kick in the last minute of play to clinch the Flames victory. The Flames' record now stands at 5 wins and 3 losses.
Noteworthy tackles were delivered by James DeGeorge, Brandon Arteaga, Kuksa, Hagan and Steve Demmert. Defenders rushing the passer and forcing plays were Boliaux, Anthony Tinaglia, Brett Blum, Spatoulas, Tony Anagnostopoulos and free safety Wagner.
Kuksa, Demmert and Boliaux to gained 120 yards in rushing. Blocks were made by Noah Ezsak, Trittschuh, Mitchell Zovnic, Noah Allgood, Luke Yankoe, DeGeorge, Hagan and Arteaga.
The Flames are led by head coach Guy Boliaux, offensive coordinator Dan Kuksa and assistants, Marc Allgood, John Wagner and Ron Ezsak.
Softball
One-day clinic: Fastball USA will host a one-day softball clinic Nov. 17 for coaches and players at 137 Diversey, Elmhurst. The UIC Flames coaching staff, Tom Grey, Sarah O'Malley and Allison Aguilar, along with UIC Flames players will be on hand. The division I softball program will hold a coaches clinic from 9:30 to 11 a.m. and a players clinic from noon to 3 p.m. The clinic will cover the fundamentals of softball in several skill areas including infield and outfield defensive, plus offensive skills of hitting, bunting and slapping.

Sky High Girls Tryouts: Sky High Girls Volleyball tryouts will be held at the following times and locations.
• 15-year-olds -- Next tryout, 9 to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 11 at Sky High Athletic Center, Crystal Lake.
• 16-year-olds -- Next tryout, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Nov. 11 at Sky High Athletic Center, Crystal Lake.
• 16-/15-year-olds --Next tryout, 1 to 2:30 p.m., Nov. 11 at Prairie Stone Sports & Wellness Center, Hoffman Estates.
• 18/17-year-olds -- Next tryout, 3 to 4:30 p.m., Nov. 11 at Prairie Stone Sports & Wellness Center, Hoffman Estates.
