Join in turkey shoot at American Legion

The Elgin American Legion Post 57 invites everyone to a Turkey Shoot raffle from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, and 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday at the post home, 820 N. Liberty St., Elgin. Prizes include turkeys, hams, pork chops, bacon and surprises. For details, call (847) 741-1684.

Start collecting your Toys for Tots

The Marine Corps League Elgin Detachment 077 in partnership with Elgin Township announced that the Elgin Township office, 729 S. McLean Blvd. is a Toys for Tots drop off center.

Only new unwrapped toys will be accepted from Nov. 9 to Dec. 14. The building is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

If you wish to make a donation, make checks payable to Marine Corps League Elgin Detachment 077 (Toys for Tots) and mail to Elgin Township, 729 S. McLean Blvd., Elgin, IL 60123.

Join the Star Party Friday in Elburn

The sky's the limit for stargazing in Blackberry Maples Forest Preserve in Elburn.

Join a special Star Party from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Experts from the Kane County Astronomical Association will have telescopes set up for viewing the night sky. KCAA members also will interpret the constellations, stars and planets visible through the scopes.

All ages are welcome at this free Kane County Forest Preserve District event.
