Blackhawks to televise 7 home games

In partnership with Comcast SportsNet Chicago, the Chicago Blackhawks have agreed to televise seven home games this season.

The decision marks a change in tradition for the Blackhawks, who under the late William Wirtz and his father prohibited TV coverage of home games to protect the investment of the season-ticket holders.

Now under the direction of chairman and owner W. Rockwell Wirtz, the oldest son of Bill Wirtz, the team is moving ahead with limited TV coverage for this season, and is expected to explore expanded coverage for next season.

Rocky Wirtz is schedule to discuss the details at a press conference at the United Center with the news media later today.

Here are dates of the televised home games:

• Sunday, Nov. 11 vs. Detroit, 6 p.m.

• Friday, Nov. 30, vs. Phoenix, 7:30 p.m.

• Sunday, Dec. 9, vs. Calgary, 6 p.m.

• Wednesday, Dec. 26, vs. Nashville, 7:30 p.m.

• Sunday, Jan. 6, vs. Detroit, 6 p.m.

• Friday, March 7, vs. San Jose, 7:30 p.m.

• Sunday, March 23, vs. St. Louis, 2 p.m.
