Sergeant, military dog take first in international events
Sgt. Kyle Slania and his military working dog, Cigany, recently competed in the 2007 TRADOC Military Working Dog Warrior Police Challenge, held in Fort Lee, Va., in October.
More than 40 K-9 Military Police from military bases throughout the United States, Europe and Korea participated in the four-day competition.
Events included explosives and narcotic detection, special search mission, building searches for personnel, open area scouting and tactical obedience and aggression.
Slania and Cigany received first place in Explosive Detection and The Iron Dog Decathlon.
Slania, a 1999 graduate of Cary Grove High School, is currently with the 14th Military Police Detachment in Seoul, and is the son of John Slania of Arlington Heights and Janice Feigenbaum of Port Washington, N. Y.
