Lake in the Hills Parks and Recreation notes
Special news
Halloween decorating contest winners: The village of Lake in the Hills Parks & Recreation Department would like to thank the 19 families that participated in this year's Halloween Decorating Contest held on Oct. 25. All 19 homes had fantastic displays, but there were two that really grabbed the judges.
The Bashonski family of 102 Acorn Lane won the "Cheeriest House" category and the "Scariest House" prize was claimed by the Walters family of 15 Linden St. Congratulations to this year's winners and thanks to all who participated.
Sixth annual Festival of Trees: Would you like to help the Lake in the Hills Parks & Recreation Department turn the Village Hall into a winter wonderland on Dec. 1?
We are seeking local businesses to sponsor a tree for $75. Businesses can decorate their own tree or allow a not-for-profit organization to decorate the tree instead.
All trees will be on display throughout December. Residents and spectators at the Santa Ride-In will "vote" for their favorite tree through donations of nonperishable food items. All donated food items will go directly to the Lake in the Hills/Algonquin Food Pantry.
The tree receiving the most "votes" (donated food) wins. For more information regarding sponsoring or decorating a tree, call the Lake in the Hills Parks & Recreation Department at (847) 960-7460.
