Youth to present C.S. Lewis classic

The Christian Youth Theater of McHenry County will bring the timeless story of the C.S. Lewis classic "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" to life.

Performances will be at 7 p.m. Friday and Nov. 16, 2 and 6 p.m. Saturdays, Nov. 10 and 17, and 2 p.m. Sundays, Nov. 11 and 18.

More than 80 local young performers will be performing this musical adapted from "The Chronicles of Narnia" at the Huntley High School Performing Arts Center, 13719 Harmony Road in Huntley.

The musical follows Lucy, her sister, Susan, and her brothers, Peter and Edmund, as they enter the magical kingdom of Narnia through the back of an old wardrobe. The children assist Aslan the Lion in saving Narnia from destruction by the evil White Witch.

The Christian Youth Theater of McHenry County is an after-school theater arts program designed to give children, ages 8 to 18, the opportunity to perform both classic and original musicals in the northwest suburbs. In addition, the students are educated in the arts, including dance, voice and drama.

Advance tickets are $12; $9 for children ages 2 to 17, and seniors, 62 and older. Tickets for groups of 15 or more are $8. For Family Day on Nov. 10, all tickets to the 2 p.m. show are $8.

Tickets at the door are an additional $2. For details or tickets, call box office (847) 516-2298 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Visa and MasterCard are accepted. For more information, e-mail mchenry@cytchicago.org.
