Garden clubs

• The Garden Club of Lake Zurich presents Sam Darin of the Chicago Botanic Garden for a presentation on the care and sharpening of garden tools at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Old McHenry Road, Lake Zurich. The meeting is open to the public. Call (847) 438-2989 for more information.

Celebrate fall

• The Chicago Park District hosts a Fall Flower Show on the Garfield Park Conservatory's Blue Stone Terrace, 300 N. Central Park Ave., Chicago. The show runs through Monday and is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays. Admission is free. (312) 746-5100.

• The Chicago Park District hosts a "Garden Buddies Family Event" from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Kilbourn Park, 3501 N. Kilbourn Ave., Chicago. No charge. (773) 685-3351.

Classes

• Heinz Brothers Greenhouse Garden Center at 2010 E. Main St., St. Charles, holds a series of classes for a $10 charge apiece. A session on the winter season is 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday and one on pruning trees and shrubs will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday. Call (630) 377-6288 for more information.

Chicago Botanic Garden

A Fall Bird Walk is 7:30 to 9 a.m. Saturday. Dress for the weather and bring binoculars. Cost is $15.

Advance registration for the annual Reindog Parade from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 1 is available now. Cost is $14. Parade day registration is $19.

The garden is at 1000 Lake-Cook Road, just east of the Edens Expressway in Glencoe. Hours are 7 a.m. to dusk. daily. Admission is free. Special-event fees apply. Parking is $15, $7 on Tuesdays for seniors 62 and older.

Morton Arboretum

An Ikebana Exhibit and floral show demonstration on Japanese floral arranging is 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The Nature Artists' Guild Holiday Exhibit opens to the public noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Nov. 11.

The arboretum is open from 7 a.m. to dusk daily. The entrance is on Route 53 just west of I-355 and north of the Reagan Tollway.

Admission is $9 for ages 18-64, $8 for those 65 and older, $6 for children 3-17 and children 2 and younger are admitted free. On Wednesdays, admission is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, $4 for children 3-17. For information, call (630) 968-0074 or visit www.mortonarb.org.
