New leader for DuPage Democrats

Rob Bisceglie is no longer temporary.

Democratic Party of DuPage voters this week elected Bisceglie, the party's first vice chairman, to head the organization.

The Roselle consultant had been acting chairman following the recent resignation of longtime leader Gayl Ferraro.

Bisceglie, who ran unsuccessfully for a state representative spot last year, contends 2008 will be the year for Democrats to make significant ground in DuPage.

His recent victory, however, came in a special election triggered by Ferraro's departure.

The Democrats will hold another election following the Feb. 5 primary, and it's expected Bisceglie will be challenged by Bob Peickert of Elmhurst.

Peickert is president of Turn DuPage Blue, a Democratic group that's offered itself as an alternative to the traditional organization and is heavily involved in recruiting committeemen.

"We will build on our momentum and build the organization," Bisceglie said. "We are going to be competitive in every facet of the electoral process."
