Briefs: CF Industries profits, sales rise

DEERFIELD -- CF Industries Holdings Inc. reported earnings of $86.5 million, up substantially from $7.3 million a year ago during the same period. The Deerfield-based firm credited strong nitrogen and phosphate markets and pricing. Net sales rose to $582.9 million, up 46 percent from the 2006 third quarter. The company entered fourth quarter with strong forward bookings at attractive margins for both nitrogen and phosphate, the fertilizer firm said.

CDW report card finds IT breaches

VERNON HILLS -- CDW Government Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of CDW Corp., released the results of its third annual Higher Education IT Security Report Card, a national survey of higher education IT directors. Fewer than half of campus networks are safe from attack, the study found.
