PREP has the power (play)
PREP, the combined hockey team of Prospect, Rolling Meadows, Elk Grove and Palatine, skated to a 3-1 Metro Northwest victory Sunday night over Conant.
Leading PREP with 2 goals was Chris Bauer, whose first came off assists from Christopher Mann and Myles Sylverne.
Philip Tenca closed out the scoring for PREP (2-3-2) on power-play goal with 7:16 remaining after a pass from Bryan Kirsten.
Goalie Mathew Snisko made 13 saves to log the win.
"It was a blue-collar game," said PREP coach Bob Sibik. "We managed to outwork them a little bit. I was happy with the way the boys played. It was a good hockey game all the way around."
Christopher Danca scored for the Cougars off Anthony Barbera's assist late in the first period to tied the game at 1-1. In goal, Daniel McKenzie turned away 50 shots.
• Buffalo Grove/Wheeling played an out-of-league game against Lake Zurich and came away with a 4-4 tie.
BG/Wheeling had a 4-3 lead before the Bears tied it with 22 seconds to play.
Anthony Ricciardi scored 2 goals for BG/Wheeling (5-0-3), while Jeff Tlusty and Kevin Pabst added 1 apiece.
"It wasn't our best game -- we were lucky to get out with a tie," said BG/Wheeling coach Bob Wagner. "We're still undefeated on the season -- but barely pulled it off.
"Hopefully the boys will regroup, come together and play as a team."
• In a Metro Central game, Barrington jumped out to 4-0 lead after the first period en route to a 6-1 win over Jacobs on Sunday.
William Schmitz and Geno Malone led the Broncos with 2 goals apiece, with other scores coming from David Nolan and John Cywinski,
Scott Karas made 20 saves for Barrington.
Barrington followed with a 6-1 win over Crystal Lake South on Wednesday. Defenseman Michael Kane scored twice for the Broncos (3-0-1).
"We're playing better as a team," said Barrington coach Rob Hutson. "Obviously, I'm pleased we're putting goals in the net. Only time will tell (what will happen the rest of the season)."
