Men charged with drug crimes after raid of Fox Lake house

The two men arrested in the raid of a Fox Lake house will face felony drug charges, Lake County prosecutors said Thursday.

Jeff Tibbs, 32, and John Gillespie, 34, are charged with one count each of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, a Class X felony, Assistant State's Attorney Suzanne Willett said

Gillespie is also charged with two counts of intent to deliver a controlled substance, also a Class X felony. She said Tibbs was out on parole when he was arrested.

If convicted of the charges, each man could face up to 30 years in prison, Willett said. Both are in Lake County jail.

The Wednesday night raid at the home at 49 Marvin St. netted 124 grams of cocaine, a gun, cannabis and cash.

Larry Lindenman, director of the Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group, said complaints about activity at the house led to an investigation of a "couple of weeks" leading to the raid.

The warrant was served with the help of the Northern Illinois Police Alert System Emergency Services Team, but Tibbs and Gillespie were arrested without incident.

"We utilized the NIPAS team because we were concerned about potential violence," Lindenman said.

The men are believed to be members of a motorcycle gang, police said.
