Lakemoor man crosses center lane, dies in car crash

A Lakemoor man died after a head-on crash in Deer Park Thursday.

Craig Condill, 55, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Ela Road about ¼ mile north of Long Grove Road, Lake County Coroner Dr. Richard Keller said.

Condill was driving a 1994 Chevy Lumina north on Ela Road when he began to drift to the left, crossing the center line and hitting a southbound 2007 Freightliner utility truck head-on around 4:25 p.m., Kildeer police said.

The driver of the truck wasn't seriously injured but was taken by Lake Zurich Fire-Rescue officials to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington for evaluation, police said.

Ela Road was shut down from Lake-Cook to Cuba roads until about 8 p.m., police said. Several local police departments helped re-route rush hour traffic in the area.

Preliminary investigations show that speed or alcohol do not seem to be factors in the crash, police said.
