Briefs: Campgrounds to close
This is the final weekend to camp at a Kane County Forest Preserve. Paul Wolff Campground at the Burnidge Forest Preserve, 38W235 Big Timber Road, Elgin, closes for the season Sunday. The forest preserve's other campground, Buffalo Park in Algonquin, closed earlier this year because of flooding. Camping resumes May 1. Call (630) 444-1200 or go online to www.kaneforest.com.
St. Charles haunted house
The St. Charles Jaycees Haunted House is open at Tin Cup Pass Shopping Center on the 1500 block of East Main Street. The house is open 7:30 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 7:30 to 10 p.m. Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Admission is $7 or $6 with a canned good donation. A kiddie matinee for younger children will be open 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday with $2 admission. Singles club dance
The St. Charles Singles Club will have a Halloween Dance from 7:30 to 11 p.m. Monday at Riverside Receptions, 35 N. River Lane, Geneva. Admission is $8 for visitors and $6 for club members. The band Incognitos will perform.
Advise Geneva planners
The Geneva Strategic Plan Advisory Committee's "town meeting" at 7 p.m. Monday will focus on Vision 2 of the city's 2017 strategic plan. The meeting is at Riverside Receptions and Banquets, 35 N. River Lane. The strategic plan is available on the city's Web site, www.geneva.il.us.

The Saints Illinois Special Olympics Team of St. Charles East High School is seeking donations to help buy new jerseys.
