MCC to unveil Costa Rican artist's exhibit
The McHenry County College Shah Center will debut the premier exhibit of abstract art by renowned Costa Rican artist Gerado Valerio Trigueros.
The public is invited to meet Valerio and view his paintings from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday during the exhibit's opening at The Shah Center, 4100 W. Shamrock Lane, McHenry. The 25 oil paintings will be on display through April 11.
Valerio is known internationally as one of the outstanding and pioneering painters of ecology in the hyper realistic school of style.
In 1992, he was selected as the winner of the National Wildlife Foundation artist postage stamp collection. This fall he has been selected as the artist representing Costa Rica at the Chicago Embassy Art Exhibition, Robert Morris College Gallery, Chicago.
The Shah Center exhibit marks Valerio's first public exhibition of abstract art, a style he regards as intensely personal.
The event is free. For details or to confirm your attendance, contact the Shah Center at (815) 455-8593 or shahcenter@mchenry.edu.
