Fox Lake man ordered to stay away from anyone under 18
A Fox Lake man must stay away from anyone under the age of 18 -- including his own children -- after being charged with a sex crime, police officials said.
Kristopher J. Kirk, 27, of 585 Blue Springs Lane, is charged with one count of possession of child pornography, Fox Lake Police Lt. Jeff Norris said Thursday.
Possession of child pornography is a Class 3 felony, Norris said, and punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
Norris said Kirk was chatting with someone from Gurnee on an Internet web site when he described his sexual preferences included children.
The person contacted Gurnee Police, who in turn contacted Fox Lake Police, Norris said.
Police raided Kirk's home Tuesday and seized his computer, a laptop computer, and other devices from the home, Norris said.
The computer contained pictures of children, aged 4 though 12, performing various sex acts.
"He was very cooperative with us and admitted he had a problem," Norris said.
Kirk was held in Lake County jail in lieu on $30,000 bond. Norris did not know Kirk's next court date.
The judge also ordered that, should he be freed on bond, Kirk could not come in contact with anyone under the age of 18. That order also includes his own children, Norris said.
