Spring Brook head takes medical leave

Spring Brook Elementary Principal Cynthia McKesson is taking a medical leave from the Naperville school.

McKesson's leave is effective immediately and Indian Prairie Unit District 204 officials do not know when she will return, according to a letter sent to parents this week by Martha Baumann, director of elementary education.

"I am certain that Spring Brook staff and families join me in wishing her time for healing and full recovery," Baumann wrote.

Due to privacy laws, the district would not comment on the reason for McKesson's leave.

The district already is interviewing potential substitute administrators.

In the meantime, Baumann said in the letter, the school's leadership team, including Student Services Coordinator Irene Villa, will maintain normal routines.

McKesson became principal of Spring Brook in 2006. She previously worked in Milwaukee schools.
