No sense of priority among lawmakers

I am absolutely disgusted with our elected representatives in Springfield. This is one of the most dysfunctional legislative bodies I have ever encountered. Last week, they voted almost unanimously to override the governor's veto and to mandate a moment of silence in Illinois schools.

Never mind that this is a violation of the constitutional separation of church and state. More importantly, they are wasting their time with this, while the public transportation system is about to be decimated.

In this time of energy crisis, this is an opportunity for innovation. Wouldn't it be incredible if our elected representatives would create a model public transportation system that both reduced our dependence on oil and used "clean" energy instead? But, no. They want to vote to force students to maintain silence for a moment in their school day.
