Football: Bartlett vs. East Aurora preview

East Aurora (0-8, 0-5) at Bartlett (5-3, 3-2)

When: 7:30 p.m. today at Millennium Field

Last week: Bartlett 36, Thornton 26; Lake Park 36, East Aurora 3

Last year: Bartlett 51, East Aurora 0

Outlook: Because it's Streamwood's turn to host a Friday night game at Millennium Field, a venue three District U-46 teams share, Bartlett opted 10 months ago to play this game tonight rather than play a third Saturday afternoon game in the same season. Regardless of when and where Bartlett needs a win tonight to guarantee its eighth straight playoff appearance. Though it's not a lock, the Hawks are a pretty safe choice in this Upstate Eight matchup. Bartlett and East Aurora have met five times with the Hawks prevailing in each by an average score of 32-6. With the playoffs on the line, the Hawks should come out fired up. "There shouldn't be any problem getting motivated for this one because the kids know they have to win got get into the playoffs," Bartlett coach Tom Meaney said. Bartlett is running the ball effectively again this season behind th area's leading rusher, senior Vinnie Libreri, who has gained 1,220 yards and scored 12 touchdowns on 180 carries, helped by the lead blocking of fullback Myles Griffin.
