Bears' Hester named NFC special teams player of week

The Bears' Devin Hester was named NFC special teams player of the week after recording 194 total kick return yards, including a career-long 89-yard punt return touchdown Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.

The touchdown was the eighth kick return touchdown of Hester's career, tying him with Gale Sayers for the franchise mark.

In just his second season, the Miami product is now tied for seventh in NFL annals in the category as well, 5 off the league record of 13 held by Brian Mitchell.

Against Minnesota, Hester had 4 punt returns for 108 yards (27.0 ypr) and 4 kickoff returns for 86 yards (21.5 ypr).

The Pro Bowl returner also had an 81-yard touchdown reception to tie the contest with 1:38 remaining becoming just the third person in NFL history to record an 80-plus-yard punt return TD and 80-plus-yard receiving score in the same game.
