Heatley's hot streak lifts Senators

Dany Heatley and the surging Ottawa Senators took care of the New York Rangers in record-setting time.

Heatley scored the first of Ottawa's 3 goals in a team-record 52 seconds of the middle period Saturday night, and Martin Gerber made 36 saves to lift the Senators to a 3-1 victory over the host Rangers.

Chris Phillips and Patrick Eaves followed Heatley by scoring in an overpowering minute for the Senators, who won for the sixth time in seven games this season -- including two victories over the Rangers in a week.

Penguins 6, Maple Leafs 4:ŒSidney Crosby scored his first 2 goals of the season, including the winner with 5:22 left in the third period, to lead Pittsburgh to a wild victory over host Toronto.

Sabres 7, Capitals 3: Brian Campbell had a goal and 3 assists and Jaroslav Spacek scored 2 power-play goals to help host Buffalo beat Washington.

Hurricanes 3, Canadiens 1: Cory Stillman and Matt Cullen scored power-play goals and Carolina spoiled the Canadiens' home opener.

Panthers 6, Lightning 4: Olli Jokinen had a goal and two assists to tie Scott Mellanby for Florida's career scoring lead in the Panthers' victory over visiting Tampa Bay.

Jokinen, in his seventh season with the Panthers, has 156 goals and 198 assists for 354 points with the team.

Flyers 3, Islanders 1: Jeff Carter and Sami Kapanen each scored goals, and Martin Biron made 29 saves to lead host Philadelphia over New York.

Devils 6, Thrashers 5: Patrik Elias scored 2 goals, including one on a power-play with 27 seconds left to help visiting New Jersey beat winless Atlanta.

Flames 7, Predators 4: Kristian Huselius scored 2 goals, and Flames captain Jarome Iginla had a goal and an assist to help Calgary beat host Nashville.

Avalanche 5, Blue Jackets 1: Joe Sakic got his 15th career hat trick and host Colorado beat Columbus. Milan Hejduk had 2 goals and an assist, and Peter Budaj had 24 saves for the Avalanche.
