Join Naperville college for homecoming events

Community members are invited to join alumni and friends of Naperville's North Central College during its homecoming celebration Oct. 19-21.

The Homecoming Concert, introduced last year, was so popular that a second performance was added to this year's schedule.

The college's Women's Chorale, Concert Choir and Concert Winds will perform at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at Community United Methodist Church, 20 N. Center St., Naperville.

The public is invited to tour the newly renovated Meiley-Swallow Hall, formerly Old Grace Church, 31 S. Ellsworth St., at 10 a.m. Oct. 20.

The completed portion of the building houses new art studios, computer labs for graphics and multi-media technologies and faculty offices. A special exhibit of alumni art also will be on display.

These homecoming activities are open to the public:

Oct. 19

• 4 p.m.: Men's soccer, Cardinals vs. University of Dubuque, Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. Free.

• 4:30 and 7:30 p.m.: Free concert featuring the Concert Choir, Women's Chorale and Concert Winds at Community United Methodist Church, 20 N. Center St.

• 7 p.m.: Women's volleyball, Cardinals vs. Elmhurst College. Free.

Oct. 20

• 10 a.m.: Artist reception and open house, Meiley-Swallow Hall, 31 S. Ellsworth St.

• 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.: Alumni Awards and Recognition Ceremony and building dedication, Meiley-Swallow Hall.

• 11:30 a.m.: Homecoming parade. Route takes Brainard south from School Street to Championship Plaza near Merner Fieldhouse.

• Noon: Homecoming pep rally, Championship Plaza, featuring the Red Noise pep band, NCC Express show choir, cheerleaders and dancers, fall athletic teams and College Union Activities Board members.

• 1 p.m.: Football game, Cardinals vs. Elmhurst College, at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. General admission: $6, free to children 12 and younger.

Oct. 21

• 9:30 a.m.: Worship service at Koten Chapel inside Kiekhofer Hall, 329 E. School St. The newest tradition at North Central College invites alumni to renew their wedding vows at the worship service, led by the Rev. Lowell Bartel, alumnus from the Class of 1957.
