Wrap-up: Larkin handles Saints

Larkin's boys soccer team ended the regular season on a positive note Thursday night, defeating Upstate Eight Conference opponent St. Charles East 5-1.

The Royals took a 3-0 first half lead with goals by David Rodriguez (Nesto Almanza assist, Carson McFadden assist) and a knock from Steven Drew assisted by McFadden.

In the second half, McFadden added a goal of his own for the Royals (15-4-4, 6-2-2) assisted by Raul Sandoval, and Edgar Cisneros completed the scoring off a dish from Michael Berruquin. In goal, Raziel Somarriba tallied 6 assists for Larkin.

Boys soccer

Elgin 10, St. Edward 0: Elgin (10-8-1) was quite an offensive force picking up this 10-0 nonconference win over St. Edward (3-18). Jose Quevedo led the offense with a hat trick and 2 assists.

Lucas Valencia and Joey Perez added 2 goals each for the Maroons, while Omar Dina, Charlie Camargo and Joey Montes added single knocks.

In goal, Chris Duran made his debut recording 5 saves to preserve the shutout.

Westminster Christian 3, Genoa-Kingston 0: It was a big offensive night for Westminster Christian goal leader Tyler Beachler, who scored the hat trick leading the Warriors (10-9-3) to this nonconference win while bringing himself closer to the 100 goal milestone. With the hat trick, Beachler is just 5 goals shy of 100 with 95 career goals.

Solomon Post and Cory Hodge each had assists, while Ethan Flickinger recorded 5 saves en route to the shutout.

Bartlett 2, Lake Park 0: Scoreless until 15 minutes into the second half, Bartlett (10-10-1, 6-3) got on the board with a Garret Dini goal assisted by Joe McCullough to make it 1-0 and never looked back en route to this Upstate Eight Conference win. McCullough and Dini reversed things for an insurance goal giving the Hawks the 2-0 win.

In goal, Vince DiNuzzo recorded the shutout with 6 saves.

Winnebago 2, Burlington Central 0: Unable to generate any offense, Burlington Central (11-7-2) dropped this nonconference meeting to Winnebago. Kyle DeRaedt was in goal and made 11 saves for the Rockets

Crystal Lake Central 2, Jacobs 0: Trailing 2-0 at the half, Jacobs (7-15) was unable to battle back dropping this nonconference match. Danny Trevor maintained the net for the Golden Eagles stopping 6 shots.

Women's soccer

Judson 10, Calumet-St. Joe 2: Judson (8-5-1, 5-3) earned its fifth consecutive win with this big 10-2 victory over CCAC opponent Calumet-St. Joe. Freshman Janee Romesberg led the Eagles with a hat trick recording her first 3 goals of the year in the first half of play. Romesberg was assisted by Krystle Arimendi, who finished with 3 assists, and Stephanie Golevicz.

Christina Thornton added 2 goals with dishes from Lynsey McFarland and Sarah Schmitz. Additional Eagle knocks came from McFarland (Amber Bocquin assist), Rebecca O'Donnell (Schmitz), Emma Mugg (Bocquin), Regan Sherwood (Arizmendi) and Andrewa Pflaum (Arizmendi).

In the net for Judson, Alice Phoneprasith and Ashley McCambridge shared time.
