Oakbrook Terrace police seeking armed robber
Oakbrook Terrace police are searching for a man who robbed a convenience store Sunday night -- minutes after attempting to commit another robbery.
Police Chief Mark Collins Wednesday said the attempted robbery was reported about 10:30 p.m. Sunday on the 500 block of east Roosevelt Road.
A cashier at a restaurant told police that a man was waving a gun outside the drive-through window. The man was demanding that the cashier open the window.
By the time police arrived minutes later, the man had left.
The officers then received notice of an armed robbery at a convenience store around the corner at 14th Street and Summit Avenue.
Collins said an unknown amount of cash was taken during that robbery. The robber escaped before police arrived at the store.
No was one was injured during either incident.
Authorities believe the same man is responsible for both crimes, Collins said.
Police are searching for a man who stands about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs 175 pounds. He was wearing a black baseball hat, black summer jacket and a gray shirt.
Anyone with information should call the Oakbrook Terrace police at (630) 941-8320.
