Bush funds war, but not health care

Unbelievable ! President Bush is asking Congress for an additional $200 billion to fund the counterproductive occupation of Iraq that has empowered terrorists and enriched our nation's military-industrial complex while killing and maiming countless thousands of coalition soldiers, not to mention Iraqi civilians. In the same time frame, he has vetoed the bipartisan bill passed by both the House and Senate that would have provided health care for 10 million lower-income children for five years, proclaiming that the $35 billion cost is excessive. Our president needs to get his priorities straight. His decisions are hardly those of a compassionate conservative, let alone those of an ardent follower of Christ. He is hypocritical when he professes to promote a culture of life and then is indifferent to the large number of children not receiving medical attention they need. Congress needs to override the president's veto for the good of our children's health. It is the right and moral path and ultimately economically sound.
