Man charged after teen stabbed in abdomen

A Mount Prospect man is charged with stabbing a 16-year-old after an argument about a bracelet, police said.

Joshua D. Portwood, 27, of the 1200 block of Burning Bush Lane, is charged with two felony counts of aggravated battery, police said Monday.

Police were called to 323 N. Main St. at 1:39 a.m. Sunday and found the teenager with a stab wound to the abdomen. He was taken to Northwest Community Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery, police said.

The 16-year-old was stabbed in the abdomen after he confronted Portwood about a missing bracelet, police said.

The 16-year-old's injuries are not believed to be life threatening, but police did not know his condition Monday.
